Nuggets of Truth – Peacemakers
The Sermon on the Mount is the largest recorded sermon given by Jesus to His followers. He wanted to prepare them, and us, to live a radically different life than what we see in the world. As true disciples we will experience every beatitude at some point in our lives, which means that we will also be blessed as promised. Nuggets of Truth are taken from the Sermon on the Mount and presented from the Message translation of the Bible. My hope is that you will find encouragement and connection with each passage.
You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family. – Matthew 5:9
God’s desire is that all people be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth and that truth is that there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all people.
Jesus laid down His life to make peace between God and sinners making Him our Prince of Peace and when we carry that message to others, we are participating in the ministry of reconciliation. This ministry carries on the work of Jesus by bringing reconciliation to broken relationships through sharing our faith and serving others in the name of Christ.
The results of reconciliation with God are a deep peace from a renewed union with God and a desire for others to experience the same harmony with God.
As believers we are messengers, also called Ambassadors of Christ, and we have the privilege of bringing the Good news of God’s peace to the world, pleading with them, on Christ’s behalf, to be reconciled, to become reunited with God.
In sharing the message of hope, we become peacemakers who are children of God and who are called to live at peace with others while being joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.
What a beautiful sight it is to see messengers coming with good news! How beautiful to see them coming down from the mountains with a message about peace! How wonderful it is when they bring the good news that we are saved! How wonderful when they say to Zion, “Our God reigns!” (Isaiah 52:7)
