No Other Name
Jesus is
“‘the stone you builders rejected,
which has become the cornerstone.’
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:11-12
When the angel appeared to Joseph, he told him to name Mary’s son “Jesus” because “he will save his people from their sins.” – Matthew 1:21 The English name Jesus comes from the Greek transliteration of the Hebrew name Yeshua, which literally means “Yahweh is salvation” or “The Lord Saves.” When the earliest Christians spoke the name of Jesus, they expressed their awareness that He was the Christ, the anointed Messiah, who embodied God’s promised salvation. Simply, there is no other person who can save us. Only Jesus saves.
John 3: 16-17 tells us the good news: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
Many people today wish to believe that everyone will be saved, or that there are many roads to heaven, or that one can take the best of all faiths and blend them into one – they are free to believe such things, but will bear the consequences of those choices. The bible clearly states that salvation is found in no other name than Jesus, the Lord who saves.
When you speak the name of Jesus do you believe with your heart and soul that He is the Christ, your Lord and Savior, your Redeemer? Thank you Jesus for saving us from our sins. Praise God, Jesus Saves!
Lord Jesus, thank you for being the one and only way to eternal life. You are the Savior of the World. The hope of my Salvation, My God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
