No Fear In Love
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
During Holy Week I was reading about the daily activities of Jesus in the gospels. It was a beautiful and personal way to reconnect and recommit my heart to the Lord, resulting in a reignited passion for Him.
While reading about the day He taught at the temple and then explained the signs of the end times I was reminded of a book I read years ago. It was about a young woman who was a Christian and found herself in a Roman arena facing vicious and hungry lions. That’s when today’s verse became real to me.
As she faced the lions she stood her ground and had no fear because her faith and trust in the Lord was founded in His love for her. She knew that no matter the outcome, she would not renounce her faith and that the Lord would deliver her one way or another. It was then that she began to sing praises to her King, the Lord Jesus.
Jesus warned His followers what would take place in the end times. He said, “When you hear of wars and uprisings, keep your head and don’t panic. This is routine history and no sign of the end.” He went on, “Nation will fight nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over. Huge earthquakes will occur in various places. There will be famines. You’ll think at times that the very sky is falling.”
“But before any of this happens, they’ll arrest you, hunt you down, and drag you to court and jail. It will go from bad to worse, dog-eat-dog, everyone at your throat because you carry my name. You’ll end up on the witness stand, called to testify. Make up your mind right now not to worry about it. I’ll give you the words and wisdom that will reduce all your accusers to stammers and stutters.”
“You’ll even be turned in by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. Some of you will be killed. There’s no telling who will hate you because of me. Even so, every detail of your body and soul—even the hairs of your head!—is in my care; nothing of you will be lost. Staying with it—that’s what is required. Stay with it to the end. You won’t be sorry; you’ll be saved. Luke 21: 9-19 MSG
We have a choice to make as Daughters of The King. He said to make up our minds right now and not worry because every detail of our bodies and souls is in His care. And those that decide to choose Him will not be lost.
