My Witness
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. – Acts 1:8
My day started by reading a short devotional about how unlikely it was that Jesus called the men He did to be witnesses for Him. Some thought they were better than others, some were loud and could be obnoxious. All of them deserted Jesus and experienced fear, yet Jesus still called them to be His witnesses.
These same men became bold witnesses, messengers of The Truth and martyrs for Christ. What changed? The Holy Spirit working in their lives. It was the power of the Holy Spirit that gave them the courage to seize the moment and share the message of salvation. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
One of my favorite bible verses is, ” When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:13, 20) That’s us! Regular people – empowered to boldly share the Good News.
When was the last time you were so excited about the grace of God that you couldn’t help telling others about what you’ve experienced? Does the way you live your life astonish others because it reflects that you’ve spent time with Jesus?
We are called, anointed and privileged to be witnesses of Christ. To share what He has done and invite others to experience the joy of knowing the hope we have in Jesus.
