Morning prayer
Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress. God will be the sure foundation for your times. God keeps your days stable and secure— salvation, wisdom, and knowledge in surplus, and best of all the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure. Isaiah 33: 2, 6 NIV/MSG
I woke up the other morning feeling worn out and tired, but the moment that I read today’s passage I began to feel strength and peace. What a beautiful way to start the day, hearing God’s Word tell me that He will be my strength when I don’t feel that I have any and that He will keep my day stable and secure when it feels anything but that.
The passage ends by telling us that the key to the treasures of peace, strength and security is in knowing and trusting the Lord. That means that each morning, when I open my eyes and greet the day I can say with confidence, “Good morning Lord, I know you are will me and that You have blessed me with this day for a purpose. Help me to glorify You in the way I live today. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
With that confession and resolve I am prepared to face the day with joy, peace and in God’s presence. It doesn’t get any better than that!
