More Than Conquerors
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:37-39
Yesterday I decided it was time to remove all the snow from this weeks downpour that has accumulated on my sidewalk. There is a school bus stop in front of our home and the little kids have such a hard time trying to climb over the mounds of snow created by the snowplows and then walking from there.
As I was shoveling I was trying to have a good attitude. That’s not the easiest thing when you’re not a winter person and you have snow everywhere and more coming down. I’ve been working through the Battlefield of the Mind bible study and decided this was the perfect opportunity to put what I was learning into practice.
So I would rehearse bible verses in my mind and today’s verse was one of the first. I laughed to myself as I thought of conquering not only my thoughts, but the deep snow. It definitely made the job more enjoyable and after an hour I had done just that…..conquered the snow!
The best part was that throughout the whole experience I could feel God’s presence. He was cheering me on to not only to complete the task, but more importantly to take my thoughts captive and not give the enemy an inch of space in my mind.
What could have been a frustrating and miserable task ended up being an enjoyable time spent with God. I was reminded that He loves me and that no task will keep Him from me as long as I choose to invite Him in to the experience.
If spending time with Him wasn’t enough, He also blessed me with a couple of teenagers who thanked me for cleaning the sidewalk and then a nice long soak in the hot tub. Isn’t God amazing!
