Ministering to Him
There were several women mentioned in Jesus’ time of ministry. They all had their own story of how Jesus had changed their lives and they had all chosen to serve and follow Him. In Matthew 27:55 (AMP) it reads, “There were also many women there looking on from a distance, who had accompanied Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him.” The NIV says, “…to care for His needs.”
Imagine being right there with Jesus. Hearing His voice as He taught. Seeing Him heal the sick and the lame, raising the dead, forgiving the sinner and befriend the lonely. What an incredible sight that must have been!
Ministering simply means to take care of needs. These women chose to follow Jesus and do what they could with what they had. They didn’t stop after He died on the cross, but continued through His resurrection until the end of their lives.
They ministered to Jesus’ needs while He was alive on earth and by serving others before and after He was resurrected. The word says, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
That means that we also can minister to His needs. We can do that right where we are, using all that we already have. He has provided everything we will need including the Divine Encounters.
These women traveled throughout the country, stayed in small villages and in open fields. They fed hungry disciples and crowds, provided clean clothes and encouragement. They worshiped the Lord through service.
Do you know someone who is hungry whether it’s for food or an encouraging word? Do you know someone who needs clean clothes whether it’s actual clothing or needs washed clean by grace and forgiveness?
As believers we are called to be ministers, meeting and serving the needs of others. How far are you willing to go? These women went wherever Jesus went. They followed Him to the cross and stayed with Him until the end. They woke up early and went to the tomb and they ran to share the Good News with others, He is Risen! Let this Easter Season be a New Beginning. A time to recommit to ministering to Him.
My prayer
Father, thank you for providing everything I need to serve You. Open my eyes to the needs of others and help me to share the Good News with them. This is the season of Hope and I pray that I will share that same Hope that was shared with me. I want to minister to others because the truth is that I am really ministering to You. Thank you Lord for all You’ve done for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
John 13: 34-35
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
