Live Boldly

Mentoring

Today is a great day to stop and think about the many different people that God has placed in your life who have mentored you in your walk with Christ. People who have supported and encouraged you to learn in order to maximize your potential, develop your skills, improve your performance and become the person God created you to be. That is the definition of a mentor and they are a gift from God.

As I thought back to my early years as a believer I’m reminded of those who invited me to church and went with me so I wouldn’t feel alone or too uncomfortable. Then there were others who hosted bible studies in their homes and encouraged me to read the word for myself, pray for understanding and live with expectation that God would stand by every promise He made and that my hope could be found in Him.

Thinking back I see that others mentored by being examples of hospitality, friendship, unhindered worship and devoted service for any needs that would arise. Beautiful displays of love and compassion were also among the many ways that God provided mentoring in my walk with Him.

Thankfully He is still providing mentors. A very dear friend of mine is part of the prayer team that meets weekly at our church and I am in awe of the way she prays. It’s as if she is walking right up to the thrown of God and having a conversation with Him. She has boldness, divine respect and makes her requests know to God with complete confidence that He hears and then she leaves her requests in His very capable hands. She praises Him from a grateful heart and you can feel the passion she has for God and others.

Mentors are a gift from God and believe it or not, you are a mentor. People are watching how you worship, how you pray, how you treat others and how you live your life for Christ.

Your dinner invitations matter. Sitting with a friend at church matters. Sharing God’s word matters. Being part of a bible study matters. Praying for others matters. Serving in love matters.

Jesus is the ultimate mentor. He is still inviting people to come and see. He is still interceding on our behalf at the thrown of God. He is still loving and serving others through you.

Be Intentional about your role as a mentor to others.

Praises & Prayers

Father, thank you so much for the many mentors you have provided to me. Thank you for their examples and encouragement. Help me to do my part as a mentor. To invite others to know You, to share Your word with them, to love and serve them and to walk beside them. You are such a good and loving Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

Philippians 4:9

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
