Meet: Dorcas
For the month of September we will discover some the many lessons that can be learned from studying the life of Dorcas.
Overview – A Life of Service
Dorcas, also known as Tabitha, was a woman who lived out her faith behind the scenes in practical ways that deeply touched the lives of other believers. She practiced showing mercy to anyone in need.
She became sick and died. Upon her death the disciples sent for Peter who was in a nearby town and urged him to come at once. When he arrived all the widows stood around him crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made for them.
Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning towards Dorcas he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive! This became known all over Joppa and many people believed in the Lord.
Dorcas had so fully honored Christ in her life and character that she was given the highest privilege of being made a subject of His resurrection power before the eyes of multitudes who knew her; of whom many, as they saw the sight, believed in the Lord.

Life Application
Every God given gift or talent is important and can be used to glorify God. Whether you are front line or behind the scenes, all service is useful.
Remember
Rather than wishing you had other gifts, make good use of the gifts God has given you.
