Me too?
Whenever I take my car through the automatic car wash I try to remember to give out a “You Matter” card and a nice tip to the people who prep the car. Their work is making my life easier and I appreciate their efforts.
The other day I gave the attendant on the driver’s side a card and a tip. He was surprised and said thank you. A few moments later I felt I was to also give the attendant on the passenger’s side the same thing. I motioned at the window to get his attention and when I gave him the card and the tip he said, “Me too? are you sure?” I smiled, said yes and thanked him.
As I proceeded through the car wash I kept thinking about the words he said and it touched my heart. He didn’t expect the gift and was surprised to receive it. I wondered how many times people feel the same way when they hear about the gift of grace.
What a beautiful opportunity we have to share that gift with others and reassure them that it is indeed for them. This is the season of gift giving and the best gift imaginable is the Good News of Jesus Christ. May we give the gift freely and often.
