Live Boldly

Living A Devotional Life

Now let your heart be completely devoted to the Lord our God, to live according to his statutes and to keep his commands, as we are doing today. – 1 Kings 8:61

I have always enjoyed daily devotionals, they encourage and inspire while teaching God’s Word. While preparing the Royal Records book for this year, I read a quote from the publisher that said, “write your way into a devotional.” They were talking about the daily blog and how it could eventually be a devotional book of its own. But I believe that God meant more.

Each day that you make note of what God is doing in your life, the daily tasks, praises, prayers, forgiveness, messages from His Word and moments with Him, becomes your devotional. You are living your own devotional life.

Think about what makes a daily devotional; a bible verse, personal experience, prayers and praises. God is working in and through you to write your own story, your own record of a life devoted to God.

Just like the bible, your story will have before and after moments, failures and victories, moments where you shine for God and others where grace and forgiveness are needed. But through it all, God will refine you and the beautiful story that is your life, will encourage and inspire others.

Writing down your daily life with God will encourage you when you look back at all the amazing ways He has provided, brought you through trials and loved you unconditionally. It will also remind you of how far He has brought you and you will begin to see His refining hand in your life.

Grab your pen and start writing about all that God is doing, all that you are learning and be inspired by the devotional life that you are blessed to be living.

Dear Lord, thank you for being the author and perfecter of my life. I pray that I will live a life devoted to you and serving others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
