Divine Encounters,  Live Boldly

Lisa’s Patterns of Joy

I want to share about the amazing people I meet each week in my God Adventures. I believe that each of them are Divine Encounters and I want to be more aware of them and I pray that by sharing them it will encourage others to look for their own Divine Encounters.

There is a lady that manages the building I work in and her name is Lisa. She is a vibrant and beautiful person inside and out and she always has a smile on her face. She is positive and ambitious and always looking for ways to make things better and more inclusive for the tenants and the community.

Last night she stopped by the office to see if I needed anything before she began the task of taking down the many Christmas decorations throughout the building. She offered to promote warm destinations on the building website and invited the office to participate in upcoming events. She is so enjoyable to talk with. Always complimentary of others, hardworking and she has the cutest laugh.

I asked her how her holidays were and she said with a small sigh, “they were good.” She told me there were some hurdles the last few months but they made it through. In the last two months she had the following events take place in her life. Her daughter was in a car accident and total the family car, her furnace went out in her home, her basement flooded and just a few days ago she fell on the ice and broke her tailbone.

“But…” she said thankfully her daughter was not hurt, the furnace could be replaced and the basement fixed. Her tailbone was starting to heal and it was easier to work while standing, so taking down the decorations would actually be easier than sitting at home.

She then said that the way she looks at it, something wonderful must be coming her way. What an incredible attitude! Just a few more tidbits on Lisa, she is a single mother that works three jobs.

Lisa is a walking miracle. Her life is a Pattern of Joy. She chooses joy in every circumstance and people notice. She is a beautiful example of the truth that you can count it all joy.

Living out God’s Truth

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything” – James 1:2-8
