Letting Go
One of the many lessons that we can learn from Hannah is letting go. She understood that all we have and receive on this earth is on loan from God. She could have made excuses for keeping her young son and few would blame her if she became a possessive mother. But when God answered her prayer, she followed through on her promise and dedicated Samuel to God’s service.
Hannah discovered that the greatest joy in having a child is giving that child fully and freely back to God. She entered motherhood prepared to do what all mothers must eventually do – let go of their children.
The bible tells us to point your kids in the right direction— when they’re old they won’t be lost. (Proverbs 22:6 MSG) Children are gifts from God and as parents it’s our responsibility to teach them to choose the right way. Showing them, by example, how to discern God’s will and walk in it, while encouraging them to develop the unique and individual characteristics that God created them with.
Faith is personal and each person must make that decision for themselves. Oh the joy of knowing that your child has chosen to serve the Lord! But even if, as a parent, you have done your best to raise your children and they still rebel against God or you, stay close to God, trust His promises, and continue to model your faith in front of your children.
Remember the story of the Prodigal Son, the Father let him go. In the waiting He kept a watchful eye and ran to him when he returned. The son remembered his way home. Letting go is not easy, but we always have God’s promises and presence. And remember, the end of the story has not yet been revealed.
Be Intentional about letting go and trusting God

Praises & Prayers
Father, I thank you for my sons. What gifts they are and each is so uniquely different than the other. Thank you for the privilege of teaching them about You when they were young. I know about letting them go, one is with you now and the other knows You, but is wavering in his walk with You. Strengthen him Lord and help him remember what he has learned and as he grows older let him not turn from it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
