Leave the Room
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
I had a dream the other night that I was in a room and a person was trying to tempt me. I kept telling him “No,” and would walk to a different area of the room, but I never left the room. He kept trying and trying and I kept saying, “No,” but again, I never walked out or fled the room through the open door. Why?
The next morning my mind kept returning to the dream and I realized it was a message for me. Often, I focus on the same handful of wrong thoughts which aren’t productive or producing anything positive in my life. The Lord has provided a way out through the renewing my mind with His Truth, IF I choose to replace the wrong thininking with His Word and leave the room by fleeing the temptation.
Each time that a temptation comes to dwell on things that are not honoring God, I should replace those though with a Truth Script. Today’s verse promises that no temptation has overtaken us, that God is faithful and that He has provided a way out. Which means that God has already made a way of escape and it’s through the open door of His truth.
That’s how we Live Differently as Daughters of The King. We take our thoughts captive, make them obedient to Christ and dwell on His Truth. We leave the room of wrong thinking and don’t wait around for the continued temptations that will come. And when we submit to God we are resisting the devil and he will flee from us.
That is the power of God working in us to overcome. What an incredible promise to take hold of and what tremendous freedom we will experience when we put it into practice. Blessed is she who believes.
