Keep On Keeping On
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4)
Imagine Deborah reading this verse before heading out to the Palm of Deborah where she held court. I know that she lived hundreds of years before it was written, but I have no doubt that she fully understood it’s meaning.
Every day she faced trials whether they were her own or other people’s issues. Daily her wisdom and faithfulness to God’s law was tested and through it all, she developed perseverance which a whole nation depended on. Thankfully we don’t have to shoulder that kind of responsibility, but our own trails can definitely feel just as heavy.
Imagine yourself reading that verse before heading out for the day whether you are going to work, taking care of your children or grandchildren, volunteering or doing whatever God has called you to do. Does that verse encourage you? Does it challenge you?
His word promises us that as we persevere (Keep On Keeping On), we will become mature, complete and lack nothing and what God promises, He does.
Be Intentional about persevering.
Praises & Prayers
Lord, thank you for giving us the strength to keep on keeping on. You are the reason that we can have joy in the trials and strength for the journey. Thank you for Your promises of maturity and completeness in You. Help us to remember that in You, we will lack for nothing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
