Jesus Is The Life
We have all heard about living the American dream which usually includes a respectable job, nice home, new cars, vacations and the appearance that everything is just perfect. But the truth is that it’s just a dream. In time our beauty fades, relationships change and we can lose our jobs, homes, health and money. The storms of life can wash away our dream lives that are built on sand.
Jesus told us in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.” He said, “I am the bread of life, I have the words of life, and whoever finds me finds life, whoever believes in me has eternal life, and whoever believes in me his name will be written down in the lamb’s Book of Life.” Jesus is eternal and will never end.
As new creations in Christ we have the privilege of living for Him. Our old ways of thinking are gone and replaced with the truth of His word revealing what abundant life really is – who it is.
The apostle Paul described a new life in Christ as follows, “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (Philippians 3:7-12)
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Everything that we are looking for can be found in Him.
