I’ve Got You
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
See that girl in the picture, she’s afraid of heights, and is often clumsy, but has an adventurous heart. The day I stepped foot on that obstacle course I said to myself, “what have you gotten yourself into?” Thankfully my 10-year-old niece was right behind me so I didn’t have the option of changing my mind and missing out on an incredible adventure.
Many times while on the course the steps you needed to take would move, sway and bounce. There were always ropes to hold on to and a very secure harness that attached you to thick cable throughout the experience. But my hands were still sore from the death grip I held each step of the way.
Another niece who completely trusted her harness would bounce around, fall into the ropes, and had an incredibly fun time. Why the difference? She trusted in what was holding her.
A quote from my devotional today read: “My peace and joy cannot be based on circumstances, but should be on God who rules those circumstances. King David’s security was on God and God alone, therefore he had as much security in the cave as he did the palace. Because it’s the Lord who made him dwell in safety.”
God is the One who is in complete control. He’s got this. He is the solid cable that we can choose to be attached to as we walk through this obstacle course called life. We can trust that He will not drop us and go through life like my niece did the course, with joy, faith and trust or we can take each step with a death grip and miss out on thrilling and exciting moments along the way.
When each person finished the course they were able to ring the bell of victory. Some rang it in thanks that it was over and others rang in truly proud of what they had accomplished, talking about the adventure the rest of the day.
How do you want to go through life? Death grip every step or become like a child in your faith and trust that God’s got you?
