It All Began With Love
I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. – Isaiah 6:1
My morning began with prayer and asking for the Lord’s leading about what to write today. I then opened my bible wondering where God would lead me for a message to share. It opened to the passage above and I was reminded about where it all began.
My story of becoming a believer, like many others, had times of planting seeds, watering them and watching them grow. It began with two strangers praying for our family while at the children’s hospital. Then meeting new friends who would love us like Jesus, invited us to church and encouraged us. (Thank you Bryan and Ellen) Their invitation to church is where I first heard today’s verse in the form of a worship song.
In addition to the music was an incredible message that we needed to hear, we were loved by God. It was in that moment that I felt the same peace I experienced when the two strangers prayed for us, the same joy that I felt when our friends told us about Jesus and I wanted more of both.
Our family started attending church regularly and we asked Christ into our lives. We knew that the Lord loved us, forgave us and wanted a real and personal relationship with each one of us. We also realized that in addition to our regular family we had a church family. A family that loved and cared about us like our biological families, but one that also loved the Lord and prayed that we would continue to grow in our understanding of the Bible and in our life long journey walking with Christ.
Our story all began with love. Your story began with love. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. (Ephesians 1:4-5)
What a gift it is to be able to look back on our lives and see all the ways and places that God’s love overflows into them. His plan all along was for us to be His children and live in relationship with Him both in this life and in the next. He had redemption on His mind when He thought of us, desiring that none should perish. He gave His life for us and it all began with love.
