In Sickness and In Health

In the last few months I have witnessed some of the most beautiful love moments between a precious couple.

My co-worker is currently going through treatment for stage IV ovarian cancer. When she was first diagnosed she and her husband stopped by the office and gave me an update on the treatment plan and to train me to fill in for her when she would occasionally be out of the office.

Often you would see the two them wink at each other and cast loving glances and smiles at one another as they stood together to face the challenges that were ahead.

Yesterday, four months later, they were both back in the office as she was training me on further details that would need to be handled as the treatment has become so harsh that she has had to hospitalized several times over the last few weeks.

Her positive attitude shown through the frailty that she now possessed and the oxygen tank she pulled beside her. In her weakened state she still cast loving glances at her husband who patiently assisted her and who smiled at her as if she was the only women in the room.

I watched as he helped her into their truck to take her home to rest and saw the gentleness and strength that he provided.

Marriage vows of in sickness and in health were displayed in such a beautiful way today. Thank you Lord for letting me witness such pure and sincere love.
