In Christ I Am……revived, fed and provided for.
“Arise, get up and eat, otherwise the journey will be too much for you.” – 1 Kings 19:7′
Today’s passage was a message that an angel of the Lord gave to Elijah after he had outrun Ahab’s chariot, a distance of almost 6 miles, and then fled for his life. He was exhausted, discouraged and physically could go no further. But the Lord was preparing him for a much longer journey, 40 days to the mountain of God.
No doubt you have at one time or another experienced complete exhaustion and frustration at the events of life. There are days that you simply cannot give one more ounce of anything and you simply shut down.
The Angel’s message to Elijah is also a message for us. Jesus told us that He is The Bread of Life. Those moments that we feel we cannot go on are the exact moments that we need to remember to “Arise and eat.” We need to take in God’s Word as the Bread of Life that it is, food for our weary souls.
Just today, I didn’t know how I could possible fit one more thing in my schedule and my patience was hanging on by a thread. I looked at my desk and saw a note for this message and realized that the best thing I could do was stop….get up, go into a quiet room and spend time with Jesus.
Instantly as I spoke His name and expressed my need for Him, His presence filled my heart and I felt the weight of the day fall away. As I began to read His word I felt revived as if a breath of fresh air had just filled my lungs and given me new life and energy.
I didn’t want to leave the room but I knew that He would give me the mental ability to finish my work, provide the patience I needed and a right heart to do it all as if for Him.
His character revealed in the “I Am” statements helps me to know with assurance that I have my own “In Christ, I Am” statements. With Jesus as My Bread of Life I know that In Christ I am revived, fed and provided for.
Lord Jesus, I thank you that You are my daily bread. You are what I need to live this life in a way that honors You. Help me to always seek Your presence and experience Your provision. In Jesus’ name, amen.
