Image Bearers

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. – Genesis 1:27

The Lord layed it on my heart to purchase bibles for my granddaughters and read through it with them. The bibles He provided are age appropriate for them and include many interactive suggestions to help them understand and apply His Word.

While reading today’s passage the activity was to look in a mirror and speak God’s Word saying, I am created in the image of God. A few weeks later I found some very bedazzeled compact mirrors that I gave the girls so that they could be reminded of that truth every time they opened them and looked inside.

I was so excited to give the mirrors to the girls and when I asked them what looking in the mirror reminded them of their reply was, I’m created in the image of God. Yes Lord!!

I pray that they both will know their worth and value to God and that their identities are found and grounded in Him alone. Lord, open their minds to learn and their heart to know You. Prepare them for the callings you have on their lives. You have chosen and appointed them so that they might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last. Thank you that they are fearfully and wonderfully made and that all their days were written in Your book before one of them came to be.
