Divine Encounters

I’ll Stand

A few weeks ago while I was at church I was given the privilege of witnessing God’s Divine hand at work.

We were singing a song called ‘The Stand’ by Hillsong United and as I sang and listened to the words I was watching people in the sanctuary.

Some of the lyrics are:

So I’ll stand with arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the one who gave it all
So I’ll stand, my soul Lord to You surrendered
All I am is Yours (I’ll stand)

One woman that I watched had recently been through two surgeries within days of each other. One on her shoulder and the other on her thumb. The miracle that I witnessed was that both of her arms were raised high in worship. Her face was shining as she praised and worshiped God.

God had healed her and she was able to lift her arms high to the ONE who made that possible.

The next woman that I noticed was struggling with her emotions. The pastor had commented on how many in the congregation had dealt with big issues over the last year and because of the Grace of God, they were still standing.

This woman was with her precious granddaughter who, when she saw her grandmother’s tears, wrapped her sweet arm around her and leaned into her with a heart of love.

I thought of how a difficult situation which resulted in the grandmother raising her granddaughter, had been blessed by God with the relationship between the two that resulted. This woman had surrendered to God’s will and because of her faithfulness, that little girl knows the Lord and understands what it means to be loved. She is now showing that same love back to her grandmother.

God is so good and it’s a wonderful thing to be in awe of Him.
