I Am A Believer

Yesterday my doorbell rang and I opened the door to find two nice ladies who said they were Jehovah Witnesses and would like to share an encouraging word.

I invited them in and they asked how I felt about the current world events, the school shootings and the natural tragedies that are taking place. They wanted to know if those events made me fearful and in need of encouragement.

I told them that I am a believer in Jesus Christ and shared how He told His disciples that these things would happen and that they were signs of the end times. But….He also said fear not, for I have overcome the world. In knowing Christ and having His Holy Spirit dwell in us, we can experience the peace that surpasses understanding. I told them that I have that hope and peace.

One of the ladies shared a passage in her version of the bible that spoke of the wicked being no more and the meek inheriting the earth. She said that it would give hope to those who are fearful because of world events and asked if I found encouragement in that passage.

I was then blessed with an opportunity to share with both ladies that Jesus Christ is my rock. He is my hope and my joy. No matter what life or world events take place, He is constant and His promises will be fulfilled so I have nothing to fear.

There are many people who are in the exact situation that these ladies mentioned, fearful. I was reminded that we have the answer to that fear and we can share the peace we have with those who don’t know our Lord. Thank you Lord for an opportunity to share the hope that I have in You.

1 Peter 3: 15

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
