Holy Week – Saturday
Stillness…………….the believers are quiet today as they ponder the events that took place throughout the week. So much so fast it was hard to take it all in and now they are blessed with stillness, quiet, time to think, time to breathe.
What a gift from God to have moments of stillness in this hurried and busy life. We need days like this to slow down and remember. To be still and hear from God as He brings peace to the chaos.
I was reminded of a song that is very fitting for this day and I would imagine that the believer’s felt this very way about Jesus. It’s called In the Secret:
In the secret
in the quiet place
in the stillness
You are there
in the secret
in the quiet hour I wait
only for you
cause, I want to know you more
I want to know you
I want to hear your voice
I want to know you more
I want to touch you
I want to see your face
I want to know you more
I am reaching
for the highest goal
that I might receive
the prize
pressing onward
pushing every hindrance aside
out of my way
cause, I want to know you more
I want to know you
I want to hear your voice
I want to know you more
I want to touch you
I want to see your face
I want to know you more
Those lyrics describe the desperate desire to know and see Jesus, while remembering that He is still there in the stillness.
Today is a day that we get to remember that He is still there no matter what our circumstances are. The grave could not hold Him and death could not keep Him. Fearing they had lost Him forever, the disciples waited, desperately hoping. We know the rest of the story; we know that Sunday is coming.
In the waiting and the stillness are you desperate for Him? To know Him more? To hear His voice? To see His face?
Remember that the stillness is a gift. A gift of quiet to renew our desire for more of Him. To remember the hope that He gives and the promises that He made. In the stillness….He is there.
My prayer
Lord Jesus, I want to know You more. I want to hear Your voice. I want to see Your face. You are my Lord and Savior and I need and want You in my life. Thank you for the stillness. The moments of peace from the chaos. I love You Lord. The hope You give and the promises You made are everything to me. You conquered the grave and death has lost it sting. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
