His Word – Fills My Cup
One of my favorite ways to Fill My Cup is to read His Word. Reading God’s word is where we get to know Him. We learn about His character and His promises and it’s through His word that we are transformed.
Acts 4:13 reads, “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”
Being with Jesus, listening to Him and learning from Him changed the character of Peter and John and reading His word will do the same for us. Like these men, we can be transformed from unschooled and ordinary to strong and courageous believers who can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
Spending time in His word is spending time with Jesus according to John 1:1 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
In addition to transforming us His word empowers us. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us through His Holy Spirit. We have the privilege to share God’s word with others, pray the word over our families, our situations and claim the promises of God found in His word, according to His will.
His word also creates a heart of praise for His grace, faithfulness and promises. His word fills our cups and we will be changed from spending time with Him.
My Prayer
Father, I love Your Word and I’m so blessed that I can freely read and study it. Thank you for the way that it transforms my heart and mind. Thank you that in reading and studying Your word, I am really spending time with You. Change me Lord to be more like You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Where does my help come from?
Deuteronomy 6:5-8
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
