Live Boldly

Held

Last week was such a beautiful week of revelation and in Godly fashion, it was in ways that I would never expect.

While preparing for the weekly Grief Share meeting I was reviewing the material and came accoss a statement that I’d never noticed before. The statement simply said that a song had been written about the highlighted story of the week.

I knew the song and was led to look up the lyrics and hear the song again and again. The song is called Held and is by Natalie Grant and speaks about the loss of a young child, the shock of the loss and the reality of where God is in the midst.

Some of the words that just grabbed my heart were, “This is what it means to be held.” “This is what it is to be loved and to know that the promise was when everything fell we’d be held.”

In the group we have been discussing the “why” question as it relates to the loss, but it’s a question that everyone has asked at one time or another. Why is this happening? Why now? Why this way? Why didn’t I get an answer?

Those are hard questions when we are looking at them in the context of our own view and abilities. But when we choose to see them through spritual eyes we can see them in a different light.

Jesus told us that in this world we would have trouble. Period. Not might but will. But He continued with hope in saying, “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Here is where my revelation was revealed. In the midst of suffering we are held. Isaiah 41:10 tells us:

“So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

God is speaking those words to you right now and in your current situation, you are being held by God.

Be Intentional about accepting God’s love and strength in your situation.

Praises & Prayers

Father, I am humbled at the love You are constantly giving to me. Thank you for opening my eyes and heart to see. I pray that others will experience Your presence right now in their lives and know that You are the one upholding them. You are the One who deeply loves them and will bring them through. In Jesus’ name, amen.
