Live Boldly

He Knows Your Name

The ancient rabbis regarded Abigail as one of the most remarkable women in Jewish history. She was said to be one of the four great beauties, the other three being Sarah, Rahab, and Esther. Her charm was irresistible to all who gazed on her. David was immediately enthralled by her and was only restrained by Abigail’s moral strength and dignity.

Abigail was not, however, David’s only wife. King David had many wives, according to the Bible, although only eight of them are named. Of the eight, five are mentioned only once. The other three wives figure prominently in the story of King David. They are Michal, Abigail and Bathsheba.

Many things changed when Abigail married David. Previously she had been the only wife of a wealthy, but surly man. She had a well established home with a large household and many faithful servants.

After marrying David she became wife number two and moved around from place to place like a nomad trying to avoid King Saul. Eventually when David was crowned King she lived in the palace with the other wives and concubines. The bible tells us that she had one son named Kileab (Daniel). In a household that large it would be easy to be skipped over or missed.

At times we too may feel that we are overlooked and missed. However, we have God’s word that that is never the case with Him. When your life is turned all around you have the assurity that God sees you and knows you by name.

It’s with that assurance that we can live our lives with confidence and joy, no matter the changes that may arise.

Be Intentional about believing God’s promises.

Praises & Prayers

Messages in His Word

Isaiah 43: 1-3

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
    I have called you by name; you are mine.
 When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
