Live Boldly

He Gave His Word

The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does. – Psalm 145:13

As I continue to learn about praying scriptures I am finding a new passion for studying God’s Word. Now when I read the Bible it’s not just for the purpose of learning, but also to pray those same words with understanding, and when I do, it opens up more possibilities than I ever imagined.

A quote I read today in the study said, “If we pray with faith, we must anchor our requests in God’s promises. If I am to have faith with I pray, I must find some promise in the Word of God on which to rest my faith.”

That quote gave me a visual way to understand praying scripture. When I make a prayer request, that I believe is God’s will, before sending it (praying it), I’m going to attach a postscript (PS) followed by what He promised.

For example, my husband and I have been praying about moving. Rather than just say, “Lord please help us to know what to do and where to go,” we can pray, “Lord, please go before us and guard our way as we look for a place to live. Bring us to the place You have prepared.” Exodus 23:20 reads, “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.”

His promise is that He will guard us along the way and bring us to the place He has prepared for us. Praying His Word, gives me peace in His leading and hope in His promise. It’s the anchor than I can hold onto in waiting for His perfect timing.

Try it on your own prayers. Lord, You said…………… then speak His Word and hold tight to His promises. He gave His Word. And we demonstrate our faith when we pray it back to Him.
