He calls us His own
You are mine! Isaiah 43:1
While I was treasure hunting in God’s Word I came across a short passage in Matthew 9:20-26 that shared the story of two women. One had sufferred for 12 years from a bleeding issue and the other was a young girl who was sick and died while Jesus was on His way to see her.
In both stories the women were known one way by those around them and by Jesus in a completely different way. The first had become an outcast due to her disease. She was untouchable, disgarded and alone. Her family would have treated her the same due to the religeous requirements of the day.
The young girl was loved by her parents and treasured. Yet a sudden illness had claimed her life, or so the crowd believed when they declared her dead. Both women were considered lost.
But Jesus saw them as they truly were. He saw the first as a precious and beloved daughter and even called her by that title when He told her that her faith had healed her. The young girl He declared alive although the world had called her dead, and gave her back to her parents. Regardless of how the world sees us, God sees us as we truly are. We are His. Called by name. His Daughters. Alive in Him.
If we were to write down all the ways the Bible teaches us about the way Christ sees us we would be in awe of the new creations that we are in Him. We would see so much more than what the world sees and our whole image of ourselves would be forever changed. There is a worship song called “God, You’re so good,” that lists just a few ways that God sees us that I would like to share with you. You can hear the whole song by clicking on the title below and raise your hands in praise to the God who sees you.
I am blessed, I am called
I am healed, I am whole
I am saved in Jesus’ name
Highly favored, anointed
Filled with Your power
For the glory of Jesus’ name
And should this life
Bring suffering
Lord, I will remember
What Calvary has bought for me
Both now and forever
God, You’re so good
Oh God, You’re so good
God, You’re so good
You’re so good to me
Doesn’t that just make you want to praise God for all He has done in your life? He sees you. He knows you. He loves you. And He calls you His own.
