Happy Friday
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease! Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. – Lamentations 3: 22-23
No, today is not Friday, but the day I wrote this post it was. For several years when I worked in the office my co-workers and I would always start the last day of the week by saying, “Happy Friday!” It meant that we had made it through the week with all its challenges, extra hours and hard work. Just saying the words brought a sense of relief and excitement.
As I read through a devotional this morning the prayer at the end seemed to summarize my week. “Lord, please give me the courage to look at the truth and thank You for never leaving me, no matter what I may see.” This week the Lord gave me a very clear visual of myself and I saw some ugly truth.
At the beginning of this revelation my heart was downcast and discouraged, but throughout the week God provided many opportunities to change, choose faithfulness and see His hand in my life. God, out of love for me, revealed the truth and He gave me the strength and desire to take the necessary steps to correct my wrong attitudes and behaviors.
God sees us the way He created us to be, not the way we currently are. In His love for us, He refines us, chipping away the rough edges and imperfections until we become the masterpiece He designed before the creation of the world.
His faithfulness never ends and His mercies never cease, which means that I don’t have to wait until Friday to declare my praises to God for the truth He reveals and for the unconditional love He gives. I get to declare it every day!
Father, thank you for revealing the truth and doing it in such a loving way. You are the way, the truth and the life and I thank you for Your mercies that are new every day. I need You every day. I need Your truth. I need Your love and mercy. Thank you for Your faithfulness. I Love You Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
