Hannah’s Prayer – My Judge

Hannah concludes her prayer by acknowledging that God is the Supreme Judge who administers perfect justice. Her prayer testifies that she believed her redeemer would come and reign in power and righteousness.

“He protects his holy people.
    He keeps them from stumbling.
But evil people will be destroyed.
They will fall in the darkness.
Their power won’t help them win.
 The Lord destroys his enemies.
God Most High will thunder in heaven against people.
The Lord will judge even the lands that are far away.
He will give power to his king.
He will make his Anointed One strong.”

Knowing that God is the Supreme Judge helps us put both the world and personal events in perspective. Hannah recognized that God was protecting her and keeping her from stumbling throughout the years that Peninnah taunted her.

In the end, God won. His sovereign will was done. Peninnah was left pining away. Meaning that she wasted away in melancholy and longing.

Because Hannah left the judging up to God, she was able to experience His love and protection. He dealt with her adversary in His own way and time.

We too can experience the peace, protection and love of God when we leave the judging up to Him. He will make things right.

Be Intentional about trusting God as the Supreme Judge

Praises & Prayers

Father, forgive us for the many times when we have tried to take Your position as Supreme Judge. It’s a position that was never intended for us to have. Thank you for the reminder that in Your perfect way You will judge the wrongs in our lives and in Your great wisdom, you will deal with each and every situation. Help us to wait and trust. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

Matthew 7:1-3

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
