Hannah’s Prayer – God is Sovereign

Sovereign is defined as a person who has supreme power or authority. In Hannah’s prayer she acknowledged that God was the One and Only authority in her life.

“The Lord brings death and makes alive;
    he brings down to the grave and raises up.
 The Lord sends poverty and wealth;
    he humbles and he exalts.
 He raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes
    and has them inherit a throne of honor.”

“For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s;
    on them he has set the world.”

There is a beautiful peace that can only be experienced when you truly believe that God is sovereign over everything. That He has full authority and and control.

It’s in that knowledge of God’s sovereignty that we can see the world events around us, as chaotic as they are, and have the peace of God within us that surpasses understanding.

God will make things right.

In the meantime we have the many promises found in His word to remind us and encourage us that while this world spins out of control, God is truly and ultimately in control. He is returning and we can experience peace and confidence as we eagerly await His arrival.

Be Intentional about dwelling in God’s Peace

Father, I thank you for the peace that fills my heart and soul knowing that You are Sovereign! You have full authority and control and I can hold tight and stand on Your promises. I long for Your return and I pray that I will remain watchful and hopeful until that day comes. Thank you Lord for Your Word, Your Authority and Your Love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
