God is My Happy Place

Many times we’ve heard, “Go to your happy place or I’m going to my happy place.” I was thinking about that this week and thought of my home and our weekend home and wondered which was my happy place. I have enjoyable moments as well as stressful ones at each place. So where is my happy place?

While on a walk I was talking with God about it and He reminded me of His lesson on choosing joy. No matter where we are we can choose joy. As I pondered the reminder I wondered about times that make me sad or hurt. How can I choose joy in those moments?

His answer was to invite Him in and speak His truth to the situation with a smile. In doing this I will make God my happy place and that makes it anywhere I am.

When we feel rejected or unloved we need to remember and say that I am deeply loved by God.

When we feel unappreciated, undervalued or not good enough we need to remember that God thinks we’re priceless and worth dying for.

When we feel forgotten and taken for granted, left with so much work to do we need to remember that God is with us. We are not alone. Even in the loneliness of this world – we are not alone; He is always with us.

When we carry the load while other sit by and watch, instead of getting angry and allow self pity to set in, we can choose to remember that God is there with us giving us strength to do what needs to be done. He is our provider and He is with us each step of the way.

When we feel alone or neglected we can remember that God is present and talk with Him. Choose to see the beauty around us and turn the neglect of others into one on one time with God.

This is how we make God our happy place. No matter the situation we can know that we are loved, valued and never alone. Now that’s something to smile about.

My Prayer

Father, thank you for showing me that my real happy place is with You. It’s not a location but rather a mindset and understanding that You are ever present, giving unconditional love and acceptance all the time. Being with You makes all the difference. My happy place is wherever You are Lord. Thank you for Your love, giving me value and choosing to have a relationship with me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Where does my help come from?

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Matthew 10:31

“Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

Hebrews 13:5

“God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
