God Goes Before You
“God, God of my master Abraham, make things turn out well in this task I’ve been given.” Genesis 24:42 MSG
Stepping out in faith can be frightening because it requires us to tread into the unknown. Often the tasks set before us from God feel that way. They are given with the soul purpose of teaching us dependence on Him. He doesn’t give us all the answers or details because part of the task is learning to trust that those will be given when they are needed.
In today’s passage, Eliezer was given the task of finding a wife for Isaac, Abraham’s son. He was sent to Abraham’s home country and had sworn an oath that he would bring back a fitting bride. Imagine the pressure of choosing a suitable wife for someone else? I admire the faith of Eliezer as he traveled and prayed that God would make things turn out well in the task he had been given.
This story reminded me of my sunshine prophesy when God told me that I needed to move. His words were:
“Don’t be afraid of the places that I will take you, for I AM a mighty God. My ways are not your ways, and My thoughts are not your thoughts. I have called you for this moment. Walk boldly into the future, for I hold the future and I AM the future. Fear not what will happen, for I will provide beyond your wildest dreams. I have called you to a ministry beyond anything that you can conceive, your thoughts cannot comprehend what I have called your to do, so do no try to think ahead of Me, but only walk in My ways and My purposes, and I will reveal My plans step by step. But you need not be afraid. You can walk confidently, for I the Lord you God have enfolded you with love. Walk in holiness before Me now, for I have called you for a great and mighty task. Do not look back, and do not fear. Be strong and be courageous, and do it, saith the Lord your God. Inquire of the Lord and be willing to do whatever God tells you to do. I want you to walk boldly into the future. I know what lies ahead and My thoughts for you are good.”
God is faithful and He will not call you to something that He has not already prepared a way for you to accomplish. Hear the words of promise today, claim them as your own and step out in faith to whatever God is calling you to do.
