Forever Changed

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they took note that these men had been with Jesus. As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard. Acts 4:13,20

Years ago, I went to a Women of Faith conference with several ladies from the church I was attending.  After the first day of the conference, we were all gathered in the lobby of the hotel, talking about the highlights of the day.  We were amazed at how God was using these women in such mighty ways and how many incredible experiences these ladies were having.  As the discussion continued, I noticed a steady theme among the speakers.  Each of the women were ordinary ladies who had everyday experiences just like us.  But the difference was that they were looking for and finding God in their everyday experiences and then sharing those experiences to encourage others.

It was then that I realized we could be having amazing experiences too!  We are no different than those speakers.  Often, we think that we have to be qualified, educated, or have special skills to be used by God, but the truth is, we already are.

Before we were born, God placed a calling on our lives and filled it with godly purpose. He has provided everything we need in His word to teach us about His character and His will. Every day we have the opportunity to spend time with Him, and that’s what changes us. We start to become more like Jesus. We begin to see people more like He sees them. We find peace, contentment, and joy in ways we never expected. We find hope, direction, and correction that leads us to wanting even more of Him. And we begin to love others as Jesus loves us.

This change produces a desire to see Him in the moments of our everyday life, and when we choose to see, with expectation, God working in our lives, we will be amazed at what He’s doing. Then we won’t be able to stop sharing how great our God is with others.
