Firsts

A client of mine was traveling solo for the first time in her life this week. She shared her anxiety with me as she contemplated canceling her trip. As we talked I told her to look for the firsts, the many things, sights and wonders that she would experience if she chose to look for them. It would take her mind off the worry and would place it on the possibilities.

After her first flight she called me and was very grateful she had found the gate for her connecting flight. She had done it….flown her first flight. Later after a bumpy second flight she sent a text stating that she had experienced her first lightening storm above the clouds. It was a very different view seeing the storm below her.

When she finally arrived at her destination, almost 3 hours late due to the storm delays, she was relieved to see her room at the hotel and rest.

Throughout the next few days I received pictures by text message of different firsts she was experiencing; the ocean, a star fish in the sand and memories with other family members that she met on location. I became excited to see the many firsts in her adventure.

Today I was re-reading pages in my Royal Records book and was reminded about my first love…..Jesus. It was a beautiful thing to remember of all the ways that He is personally involved in my life everyday. The way that focusing on Him takes my mind off my worries and replaces them with the peace of His presence.

There have been different storms that He has carried me through and given me the ability to see them from His perspective. There have been delays and frustrations, but He has always seen me through to times of rest. There have also been many exciting discoveries and adventures that have broadend my horizons and encouraged me to trust Him more.

What an incredible journey this life is and will be……all because we chose to first believe.
