Eyes on You, Lord
I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8
The other night my husband was telling me about all the things he had heard throughout the day on the news talk radio stations. You could tell by his demeanor that the constant barage of negativity had taken its toll. He spoke of dread for the future and doubt about our nations present circumstances. It was hard to listen to all the options and I could feel the heaviness and darkness in the messages.
In contrast, at church on Sunday a brief video message from Franklin Graham was presented. In that video clip he mentioned how many devestating things are going on in the world. The news is flooded with so much violence, natural disasters and political corruption that it’s creating a sense of hopelessness.
But as believers we don’t have to fall victim to the enemie’s schemes. We can stand firm in God’s truth that these things will take place and that God is firmly in control. He is not surprised by the greed, lies and selfish ambition of world leaders, nor the birthing pains of the earth as it prepares for His return.
As His Word unfolds, every detail will take place just as He said and in the meantime, as we keep our eyes always on the Lord, we will not be shaken. We can live as those with hope. We can live as those with Godly purpose to share the Good News. We can live as servants of the Lord who are expectantly anticipating His return and desire to be found in His service when that day comes.
We can choose what and who we listen too. We can choose whether or not we live each day in fear, negativity and hopelessness or if we live in faith and with a peace that surpasses understanding. Choose not to be shaken because your eyes are on the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
