Live Boldly

Even in Dreams

For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.  For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:6-7

At a recent prayer group, a participant mentioned that many believers do not understand, let alone access, the immense power of God that is within them to use for His purposes. I realized that this year’s journal, Christ in Me, is full of instruction on that very topic and sadly, I will admit that I do not access or use the power of God within me as often as I should.

There were several prayer requests from the meeting that stayed on my mind throughout the evening. Then I went to bed and fell asleep. I had a dream about one of the requests. It was for a man who was suffering from tremors. In the dream, he was pushing a paper across the table to me when I heard God say, “Touch his arm and say, ‘Peace be still.'”

My mind instantly filled with the thought, “What if it doesn’t work? I’ll look foolish.”. But then I remembered the conversation at prayer group and I touched his arm, then the dream ended. The next day I continued to think and pray about the dream and asked, “Is that what you want me to do Lord?” No answer came until Sunday at church when I again saw this man. At that moment God told me to tell the man the dream, so I did.

As I told the man and his wife the dream the man’s eyes began to tear up. He told me that on the night of the prayer group, the pain was severe, and then all of a sudden, in the middle of the night, it stopped. God had eased his pain through a dream. It was a humbling and amazing moment.

I know it was God and I believe that He is trying to teach me to step out in His power and stop worrying about what others might think or what the outcome might be. God is in control and all I have to do is obey.

Lord, thank you for this incredible demonstration of your power. Please forgive my doubts and fears and help me walk boldly into whatever you ask me to do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
