Equipping Yourself for Battle
I have been so blessed with this month’s study of Deborah. It’s truly been a hidden gem and encouragement to me. I want to highlight some of the key lessons that I want to take with me from her story in the last few blogs of this month.
Deborah was able to accomplish the many tasks assigned to her because she was equipped for battle. Ephesians 6:13-16 begins with the words, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God.” This armor isn’t just placed on us, we need to take it up. It’s a conscience choice and requires action on our part.
Our relationship with Christ is the beginning of our equipping. The bible tells us that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. (John 1:1) That means that as we read and study God’s word, we will come to know Him, begin a personal relationship with Him and be able to discern His will and His leading in our lives.
He is the way, the truth and the life and it’s on that truth that we can stand firm, not wavering in the the face of adversity, but stand ready to take on whatever may come our way. Our faith in Him shields us against the attacks of the evil one believing that He will work all things for the good of those who love Him.
As new creations in Christ we have been declared righteous, redeemed and set free, and have been given the task to go and share the Good News with others. We have been given Godly authority to speak, serve and love in ways that would honor Him.
Have you chosen to put on the armor of God? Are you ready to step out in the calling that He has given you? Remember; He doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. You are called by God to serve a beautiful, mighty purpose that only you can do. Step out! Be blessed and know that you are deeply loved and equipped by God.
Be Intentional about equipping yourself for battle.
Praises & Prayers
Lord, thank you for Your Word. The many lessons and examples of people who chose to step into the call You had on their lives. Help us to be modern day examples of followers who willingly submit to Your will and purposes. Help us to choose You! Help us to put on the armor You have provided and face the battles remembering that You are always with us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Messages from His Word
Ephesians 6:13-18
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
