Live Boldly

Disciple Others

In Biblical times, a disciple referred to anyone studying under, and trying to emulate, a valued teacher. To modern day Christians, it means a follower of Christ who leads by following his example. In John 13:34-35, Jesus says “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Discipleship is a process of not only holding onto your faith, but growing in it so that you may lead others toward Christ. Discipling is helping other believers live lives committed to Jesus, in both spirit and truth.

A disciple is one who follows Christ:

  • trusting in him alone for salvation
  • worshiping him
  • loving him with whole heart
  • imitating his life
  • obeying his teaching

living dependently by:

  • abiding in Christ
  • walking in the Holy Spirit
  • meditating on the word of God
  • engaging in communion (prayer)
  • partnering with the body of Christ (local church)

resulting in the transformation of

  • mind
  • heart
  • mission

and leads others to do the same.

Deborah was an example of a woman who discipled others. She knew the Lord and lived a life that reflected her beliefs. She encouraged Barak to trust the Lord, to step out in his calling and did not abandon him when he went to battle.

That is how we, as Daughter’s of the King, can also disciple others. Our faith in Christ will guide us to the people that the Lord is drawing to Himself and we get the opportunity to walk with them along this path of life.

Not only do we get to disciple others, but at one time we ourselves were discipled by someone else. Think about what that relationship meant to you and let that reminder encourage you to do the same for someone else.

Be Intentional about discipling others.

Praises & Prayers

Father, I want to thank you for sending others to disciple me. For the encouragement and friendship they gave and continue to give. I pray that I can do the same for others. I want to live a life that reflects my love and belief in You and I pray it will bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

John 13:34-35

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
