Created by God
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be. – Psalm 139:14-16
The bible tells us that the Lord God took dust from the ground and formed a man from it. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nose, and the man became a living person. – Genesis 2:7 I have often passed over this passage without giving it much thought. But recently I saw it with a more personal touch from God.
When we were created by God, He meticulously fashioned us out of the dust. Each person unique and beautiful just as He deigned. He sculpted our bodies just as they are with purpose and intention to make them exactly the way we would need them to be, for the life we would be given to live. Then He took a breath and breathed life into us. That life-giving breath made us living, breathing souls. Think about it, our first breath was from the breath of God!
All our days were written in His book before the first one began. That means that He has a personal and intimate knowledge of every moment of our lives. He is aware of the trials, temptations and struggles we are facing and will face in the future. He is also aware of the joys, the triumphs and the ultimate victory we will have in and through Him.
The psalmist knew and believed in the creators ability and praised God for His wonderful works. As Daughters of The King we too can praise Him because we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Father, when I look in the sky and at your vast creation I am in awe of You. Help me to remember that I am part of Your creation and just like the heavens and the earth, You created me with purpose, love and intention. I thank you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. In Jesus’ name, amen.
