Contagious Joy
The other day as I was writing in my journal I thought about how serious I am. My mind is always thinking about work, schedules and so much more. Even when I watch TV I don’t laugh very much. In fact, I wroted in my journal, I don’t remember the last time I really laughed.
I had ordered a book on Amazon to take on vacation which was scheduled to arrive a few days before I left. To my surprise, it arrived several days early on the exact day I wrote about laughing in my journal. The package was larger than I imagined because an additional book, a bookmark that read Jesus loves me this I know, and a handwritten note were enclosed.
The extra book was called Simple Joys by Candace Payne. She is also known as the Chewbacca mom because of a video she posted that went viral in which she was wearing a Chewbacca mask that made noises when she moved her mouth. She laughed so hard in that video and her joy was contagious. I remember watching it again and again just to hear her laugh and to laugh myself.
God knew the last time I had really laughed with joy and He reminded me by generously sending the extra book my way on the exact day I needed it. And if that wasn’t enough the handwritten note from the Amazon employee included a bible verse, James 1:17; Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. How amazing is that!!
Thank you, Lord, for Your loving watchful eye and Your unique ways of reminding me that You are ever present and for joy. The real joy in knowing that I am loved by You. Thank you for the wonderful gifts.
