Constant Peace
You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. Isaiah 26:3
The last few weeks have been filled with moments of witnessing women live out today’s passage. The first received a bad test result which will require more medical procedures. The earliest she can see a specialist will be in 6 weeks. The second is a woman who has to have major surgery and will likely have a kidney removed. The third is a younger woman who was experiencing back pain and numbness in her leg which turned out to be a tumor that had wrapped around her spine and flattened it. She underwent surgery and the tumor, along with two discs, was removed. She now has to learn to walk again.
The most incredible thing that all these women have in common is their faith. They all have made the decision to trust in the Lord whatever the outcomes may be. They don’t know why they were called to endure these trials and they aren’t naive about the pain and sufferring that awaits them. They have simple made the most important decision that they could make, they are leaving it in Jesus’ capable hands and trusting that He knows what’s best. And because of that decision, they are experiencing God’s peace.
One women commented that in the waiting she has been able to spend more time with the Lord and her relationship with Him has been flourishing. This may not have happened if she wasn’t going through this trial.
Their faith inspires me. I can only imagine how proud God is of His faithful daughters. They are reaching their families, friends and communities with their experiences and it’s in those moments that God becomes real to those who are watching. They will see miracles whether or not these women are healed because they have seen the power of God bring peace in the storms. The kind of miracle that cannot be disputed or excused by medical treatments. They will see the peace and love of God in action. And I can just picture God smiling upon each one of these women saying, “Well done! My good and faithful servant.”
