Choose Joy
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice today and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
We are on the move again. For the last year we have been searching and praying for a new home and God answered those prayers in a mighty way. Once the offer was accepted the clock started ticking. It would take 30 days for the necessary paperwork, appraisal and inspections to be completed. During that time there would be mountains of paperwork needed and many questions asked.
Without a doubt I knew that this home was the one that the Lord had been preparing for us. Every little detail started falling into place and I had incredible peace. But then doubt started to rear its ugly head.
Then one day the Lord laid it out for me.
“The next 30 days are a gift. You can either spend them worrying about every detail or you can live with joyful anticipation of what I have done and will do for you. The choice is yours.”
It was a moment of faith. Do I truly believe that God has taken care of the details? Can I show my faith by living in His peace with expectation of what He is doing? I decided to choose joyful expectation. Every time the enemy tries to create doubt in my mind I remind myself of what God has told me.
We have the same choice to make in our daily lives. Either we live in fear and worry or we take God at His word and enjoy the journey. This year the Daughter of The King theme has been, “Blessed is she who believes.” I pray that you have experienced not only the peace of God in your life, but the joyful anticipation of what He is doing all around you.
He is a good God and He loves to give good gifts. Those gifts are not always material gifts which are seen, but they are gifts of joy, peace, assurance, confidence and hope, which are felt in our spirit and carry us into His presence which is the greatest gift of all.
