Checkpoints Along The Way
Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord! – Lamentations 3:40 ESV
For the month of April we will be studying Love. It is the first Fruit of The Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23 and is the foundation for all of them. Love is required to obey the first and greatest commandment, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind,” as well as the second, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22: 36-40
The first post of this month presented a challenge to test or examine yourself by entering your name in the following passage found in 1Corinthians 13:4-8 :
_____________is patient, _________ is kind. ________ does not envy, _________ does not boast, ___________ is not proud. ____________ is not rude, _____________ is not self-seeking, ___________is not easily angered, _____________ keeps no record of wrongs. ___________ does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. ________________ always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ___________ never fails.
How did you do?
It just happened that I read that post after a not so flattering phone call. I lost my patients with the representative, this was of course after louding repeating, “REPRESENTATIVE!!” serveral time to the recorded phone message. After hanging up I tried to justify my actions by thinking of how much of “my time” they had wasted. I was angry and fueled that frustration by remembering how many times that company had given poor service in the past.
So as I began to insert my name in the Love passage I knew that I had miserably failed at each one. It was time to repent and return to the Lord. In the book Royal Records of The Daughter of King, there is a page for each Fruit of The Sprit entitled, Checkpoints Along The Way.
These pages are designed to help us take an accurate account of where our heart is, what happens when we turn back to God and apply the Fruit of the Spirit to our lives and the harvest that we reap because of those choices. They are accountabilty pages, opportunities to check our hearts and get back on the right path with God.
Thank you Lord for moments to be honost about our thoughts, behaviors and actions so that we can turn from wrong paths and return to walking with You.
