    I’ve Got You

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 See that girl in the picture, she’s afraid of heights, and is often clumsy, but has an adventurous heart. The day I stepped foot on that obstacle course I said to myself, “what have you gotten yourself into?” Thankfully my 10-year-old niece was right behind me so I didn’t have the option of changing my mind and missing out on an incredible adventure. Many times while on the course the steps you needed to take would move, sway and bounce.…

    Simple Solution

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 A few days ago I returned from a vacation with wide open spaces, beautiful tropic views, large windows in my room and plenty of fresh air. It was glorious! On my first morning back home I was in my cute little loft/office/guest room/prayer room. This room also has a fun nautical theme including a picture that looks like you are looking out the window at the beach. Each morning from my usual corner of the futon I read my, “In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus,” sign, but have no actual windows to…

    Spinning in the Rapids

I call on the Lord in my distress, and He answers me. Psalm 120:1 The other day I noticed that my emotions were a little off. I wasn’t sure why I was feeling the way I was and I could tell that I was mentally heading in a direction I didn’t want to go. I began to feel anxious and dreadful. Quietness covered my voice and I felt as though I was being trapped into a corner. It reminded me of a recent white water rafting adventure that I had just taken with my family. While floating down the river the water began to flow quicker and more rapids came into view. The more…

    Maria

While I was writing the other day I looked at the calendar and knew I needed some Divine Encounters to write about, so I asked God for some and that He would open my eyes to see them. Some friends had invited us to go out to dinner with them at a new restaurant we both enjoy. During dinner the mother-in-law of the owner stopped by the table to say hello. We had met her on an earlier visit. Then she began to share about her faith. She shared stories of her family, God’s leading in her life, opposition she encounter by her husband and siblings concerning her faith and…

    Springtime is Coming

My soul waits for the Lord to break into the world more than night watchmen expect the break of day, even more than night watchmen expect the break of day. Psalm 130:6 Today before I began writing this post I looked outside and saw a cold, windy, and rainy day. Pretty typical weather for this time of year. The view is grey and almost barren. But my view of the day quickly changed when I read the following quote: “Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf of springtime.” – Martin Luther I then looked out the window again and saw raindrops on the glass, trees swaying in the wind,…

    A House of Cards

It is much easier to fit in with the world around us than it is to stand out and live differently as Jesus called us to do.  But as true disciples of Christ we know that our lives will be more blessed when we follow His instructions. The lifestyle that Jesus described in the Sermon on the Mount is the complete opposite of what is accepted and expected in the world we live in. Jesus began His message by saying, “You have heard it said”….. and then added, “But I say.”  He made it very clear that His ways are not the world’s ways and His instructions for His followers…
