    Besties

I had the opportunity to spend some time with my youngest granddaughter Remi the other day. We walked around the yard hand in hand and talked with each other, ate lunch together and just enjoyed one another’s company. Later she was sitting on my lap running her fingers through my hair when she said, “Grandma, you are my bestest friend ever.” You can just imagine how my heart melted upon hearing those words. More than anything I want to be a Godly influence in her life. As with all friendships this will take time, but I’m more than willing to enjoy the journey along the way. I’m honored and humbled…

    Happy Thoughts

It’s always surprising to me how something as simple as a coffe cup can efffect my mood. While standing in a check out line this week I saw a cute coffee cup that read, “Think happy thoughts.” It had whimsical little lines drawn on it and a few hearts and butterflies. Just looking at it made me smile and begin to think happy thoughts. It reminded me that my thoughts are my choice. What I dwell on and what my actions will follow. Throughout the rest of the day I kept thinking of that cup and each time I would adjust my thoughts. It was a gift and reminder from…

    Meet The Neighbors

The other day I was in my office working with the window open when I heard a loud crash. I hurried outside to see what had happened and saw that my neighbor’s car had been hit by a passing car. They were not home at the time. The driver was getting out of her car to assess the damage and was quite shaken. Her bumper was torn completely off and the entire side of her car damaged. The parked car had some large dents as well. Thankfully she was alright and she began making phone calls to the police, her insurance company and husband. Apparently while she was driving she…

    A Map

This week I experienced the joy of sidewalk chalk while spending some time with my 5 year old granddaughter Remi. She began drawing a large green circle to which she added small brown circles in a line which ended up at a blue circle. When I asked her about her artwork she told me that she made a map for me so I wouldn’t get lost. Sure enough her picture was an exact replica of our yard. The green grass has brown stepping stones which lead to her blue swing. My heart was so touched that her desire was that I wouldn’t get lost. She had sat on the hard…

    Certainly

My Divine Encounter came today from God’s word. It was a response that Deborah gave to Barak after he refused to go to battle unless she accompanied him. It made me think of the many requests that we get throughout the day and our responses to them. Has your first and immediate response ever been, “Certainly?” That may be the case if the request is to join someone for a fun night out, dinner, a movie or exciting event. But what if that request was for something much bigger? Something serious or even life threatening? Something that would take you out of your comfort zone and stretch your faith? Something…

    Flat Tires

Last week my sister and I decided to play hookie from work and headed out to enjoy the day together. On my way to pick her up my low tire warning began to flash. We stopped at the tire store to get it fixed and were on our way. About twenty minutes down the road the low tire warning came on again and in frustration we found another tire store and again waited another 30 minutes in the lobby while the tire was repaired. This was not how I anticipated spending the day, but God had other plans. At the first stop, while waiting, we saw two friends whom we…

    Bring The Rain

This last month has been filled with an abundance of issues that I pray will be remedied soon and that in the midst of all of them, God will be honored. Six family members have battled covid 19 all with completely different symptoms and severities. One of my brothers had to have his heart restarted due to a reaction from the vaccine that he received for the virus. I recently recovered from ten days of ice pick headaches that may have been from the virus and has caused eye sensitivity and other issues that will now have to be addressed. My 20 year old nephew is scheduled for open heart…

    Meet the Neighbors

We’ve lived in our home now for 2 months and had a few opportunities to wave at neighbors and get an idea of who lives where. Today I was blessed to be on a walk with Roscoe and noticed that one neighbor was painting their home. We have seen them prepping the home for several weeks now and today was the big day. It looks amazing! Just as we were walking by, Shelly, stepped out and I had the opportunity to talk to her. We introduced ourselves and visited for a few minutes. I know this was a Divine Encounter as I’ve been looking for just the right moment to…

    I’ll Stand

A few weeks ago while I was at church I was given the privilege of witnessing God’s Divine hand at work. We were singing a song called ‘The Stand’ by Hillsong United and as I sang and listened to the words I was watching people in the sanctuary. Some of the lyrics are: So I’ll stand with arms high and heart abandonedIn awe of the one who gave it allSo I’ll stand, my soul Lord to You surrenderedAll I am is Yours (I’ll stand) One woman that I watched had recently been through two surgeries within days of each other. One on her shoulder and the other on her thumb.…

    Lost Keys

When I go to Walmart I usually park far away from the entrance. This gives me an opportunity to walk a few more steps and usually it isn’t as crowded as the spaces closer to the store. I had finished shopping and walked to my car to unload and discovered that I had lost my keys. Frantically I searched my purse over and over, checked my pockets and discovered that they were nowhere to be found. So I pushed my loaded cart back to the store and went to the checkout line that I had used. The attendant asked if she could help me and I told her that I…
