Cardboard Testimonies
They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Revelation 12:11
Part of the Easter service at the church I attend will include cardboard testimonies. People volunteer to be transparent and vulnerable as they share their testimony with a few short words written on a piece of cardboard. One side tells where they were before Jesus and the other side is where they are now with Jesus.
When I shared the invitation with my granddaughters and explained about testimonies, they both wanted to participate. I asked them what they would write and this is what they said:
Kyrie: I was invisible and now I’m seen
Remi: I didn’t want to pray and now I pray all the time.
I thought of my own testimony and realized there are so many things I could share. So many ways that my life has changed because of Jesus. I decided on the following:
- Sought approval – found acceptance
- Shattered by loss – filled with hope
- Strived for significance – given purpose and an identity in Christ
I cannot imagine my life without Christ. He has changed me. Loved me. Forgiven me. Taught me. Made a way for me. Healed me. Comforted me. Befriended me. And so much more. No wonder I can say with great joy and complete confidence that My God is My Everything.
How about you? What’s your testimony?
