Behind the Scenes

We’ve all experienced sleepless nights and tried several options to find a remedy. King Xerxes was no exception. Unable to sleep, the king decided to review the history of his reign, and his servants read to him about Mordecai’s good deed which had happened four years earlier and had went unrewarded. That good deed was exposing a plot to assassinate the king which resulted in saving the king’s life. Immediately the king sought to remedy the situation by rewarding Mordecai.

At Haman’s home he was also having a restless night. In his anger concerning Mordecai he was having a 75 foot pole erected and planned to ask the king the following morning to have Mordecai impaled on it for disobeying him.

It seems coincidental, but God is always at work behind the scenes. God was saving Mordecai’s reward for just the right time. Just as Haman was about to execute Mordecai unjustly, the king was ready to give him his reward.

God has been working quietly and patiently throughout your life as well. The events that come together for good are not mere coincidence; they are the result of God’s sovereign control over the course of your life.

Although God promises to reward our good deeds, we sometimes feel the payoff is just too far away. Be patient. God steps in when it will do the most good.

Be Intentional about trusting God’s perfect timing.

Father, thank you for the reminder that Your timing is always perfect. I know that You are always working behind the scenes and I pray that I will learn to trust You completely and be still in the waiting. In Jesus’ name, amen.
