Live Boldly

Beauty Treatments

It’s that time of year when we are bombarded with advertisements for gym memberships and diet programs. These messages are meant to spark our motivation to change our appearances and live their version of a healthier lifestyle.

We have a choice whether or not to participate. That was not the case with Esther. She was selected to be one of the women that would be brought into the kings harem and who would receive a year long beauty makeover.

While that may seem intriguing on the surface the truth was that each young girl that was chosen would have one chance to impress the king and if she didn’t, she would live out the rest of her life unnoticed and unable to marry someone else. Talk about pressure to impress.

The world we live in now has a similar view as the Persian empire did then. That worldly view says that we are only as good as we look and that we are only as valuable as we are desirable. It tells us that beauty is not something we are, rather it’s something we do and you can never do enough.

With that mindset, beauty is a treatment and you are treated according to your beauty, it’s not a surprise that we often wonder if we will ever be enough.

But God’s view is completely different. He sees us as we truly are, as we were created to be. Beautifully and wonderfully made in His image. He knows every detail about us right down to the number of hairs on our head and still, He is never overwhelmed by us, our needs or our insecurities.

We don’t need to strive to impress Him because He has already chosen us before the creation of the world to be His.

God’s estimate of our worth, not the world’s estimate of it, determines our real value. Other people may evaluate and categorize us according to how we perform, what we achieve, and how we look. But God values us because He created every one of us in His image, and He is constantly working to carry out His purpose and plan for us. He doesn’t want us to miss out on all He created us to be and become.

Be Intentional about Knowing Your Worth in Christ

Praises and Prayers

Father, thank you for choosing us and reminding us of our tremendous value and worth in You. Help us not to fall into the trappings of this world that try to lead us away from Your truth. You Lord are beautiful. You created us in Your image and that makes us beautiful. I pray we remember that in You we are more than enough. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Messages from His Word

Isaiah 43:1

But now, this is what the Lord says— He who created you, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.”
